We're excited to announce Workflows — a brand new visual automation engine built right into Chainfuel. If you've ever wished you could create smarter, more flexible rules for your Telegram group without writing code, this is for you.
What Are Workflows?
Workflows let you build automation visually. Using a drag-and-drop canvas, you connect triggers, conditions, and actions into powerful chains that execute in real-time when events happen in your group.
Think of it as IFTTT or Zapier — but purpose-built for Telegram community management.
What Can You Build?
Workflows unlock use cases that simply weren't possible before with static bot rules. Here are a few examples:
Multi-Step Moderation
Instead of a simple "ban on keyword" rule, you can now build graduated responses. Detect a suspicious message, check if the user is new, warn them the first time, mute them the second time, and ban on the third — all automatically, all configurable.
Smart Welcome Sequences
Trigger a welcome message when a user joins, automatically whitelist them so they don't get caught by spam filters, and follow up based on their activity. If they go silent after joining, send a nudge. If they engage, reward them with karma.
Scheduled Community Broadcasts
Set up time-based triggers to send daily digests, weekly announcements, or weekend recaps to your group on a schedule — no manual intervention needed.
Pattern-Based Content Routing
Match messages by text, regex, media type, or file extensions. Route photos and documents through different logic paths. Block executable files while allowing images. React differently to voice messages vs. text.
Karma-Driven Community Rules
Combine the karma reputation system with workflow logic. Automatically grant privileges to high-karma members, restrict new or low-karma users, and create a self-moderating community culture.
Webhook-Triggered Automations
Connect external systems to your Telegram group via webhooks. When an event fires from your app, CRM, or monitoring tool — your workflow picks it up and takes action inside Telegram.
How It Works
The workflow builder gives you three categories of nodes to work with:
Triggers — The starting point. Choose from 11 trigger types: text messages, photos, videos, documents, voice notes, stickers, user joins, user departures, message edits, scheduled times, or incoming webhooks.
Logic — Control the flow. Add if/else conditions, multi-branch switches, loops, and delays. Check message length, user status, admin privileges, karma scores, or any context variable.
Actions — Make it happen. Send messages (with full variable substitution like {{user.first_name}}), delete messages, warn users, ban or mute with configurable durations, manage whitelists, or adjust karma scores.
Every workflow execution is logged with a full audit trail — you can see exactly which nodes fired, what data flowed through them, and where things went right or wrong.
What's Coming Next
This is just the beginning. We're already working on the next wave of workflow capabilities that will make Chainfuel the central hub for your community operations:
AI-Powered Nodes — We're building an LLM integration node that will let you route messages through AI models for intelligent classification, sentiment analysis, and even autonomous moderation decisions. Imagine a node that reads a message, decides if it's spam, support, or engagement — and routes it accordingly.
External Service Integrations — Soon you'll be able to connect workflow actions to external platforms. Send a Slack notification when a high-value member joins. Create a support ticket in your helpdesk when someone asks for help. Push analytics events to your data warehouse. The workflow engine is designed to be the bridge between Telegram and the rest of your stack.
We're building toward a future where your Telegram community doesn't just react — it orchestrates.
Get Started
Workflows are available now for all paid plans. Head to your group dashboard, click Workflows in the sidebar, and start building your first automation. Free tier users can explore the builder — upgrade to activate your workflows.
We'd love to hear what you build. Drop us a line in our Telegram community and share your workflow ideas.
